Downtown Golden parking lot

Background

Downtown Golden has continued to grow and evolve as a major destination for the community, business and visitors. This success also brings challenges, and one of the largest is parking management.

City staff and our consultant team have begun a downtown parking study. The intent is to determine how various elements can best come together to create a more efficient system to manage ongoing parking demand. The study will complement other efforts, such as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan to support an accessible and vibrant downtown Golden. The geographic boundary of the study generally encompasses the area from Highway 58 on the north end to 15th Street on the south end, and Maple Street from the west to East Street on the eastern side of town.

Over the course of the engagement process, the community will be asked to provide input on parking- and transportation-related challenges in the downtown area, which will later be used to formulate potential parking management solutions that could help the City manage its parking resources more efficiently.

Please provide us with your feedback during one of the below engagement opportunities, and check back on this page for the latest updates regarding surveys, meetings and schedule information throughout 2023.

Current Public Engagement Opportunities

City staff created a follow-up survey based on the initial feedback we received. This survey is now closed. Please find a summary of the Follow-up Downtown Parking Public Survey Results.

Please contact the Planning Division (planning@cityofgolden.net; 303-384-8097) if you, a person you are assisting, or an organization needs additional help to engage with our planning process due to limited access to technology, a disability, or a language access need.

Thank you for choosing to participate in this brief survey about parking for employees in Downtown Golden. The survey comprises questions about your personal experience of parking in Downtown Golden when you drive to work. Your responses will help inform potential changes to how parking is managed in Downtown Golden to best support the downtown business community while balancing the parking needs of residents and patrons.

We ask that you only take this survey one time to allow survey results to reflect a fair consideration of all survey takers. We understand that people who work in Downtown Golden may have other reasons for parking there that aren’t related to their employment (i.e., they may shop or dine in Downtown Golden). With the exception of Question 5, answers to the questions in this survey should be informed by your experience parking in Downtown Golden for work-related reasons only. For Question 5, you should consider all of the reasons you park in Downtown Golden. If you choose to participate in the Downtown Parking Study Public Survey, which is not employee-focused, your answers to the questions in that survey should be informed by your experience parking in Downtown Golden for reasons that are not work-related. Your responses will be shared with Planning staff and consultants responsible for evaluating and enacting changes to how parking is managed. Anonymized responses may be made public at a later date.

Thank you for choosing to participate in this brief follow-up survey about parking in Downtown Golden. Downtown Golden is defined as 10th street to 14th Street from north to south, and then East Street to Cheyenne Street from east to west. After city staff reviewed the initial public parking survey, we realized there was a great opportunity for targeted follow-up questions. This second survey is shorter and more refined; however, you do NOT need to have taken the first survey to take this one. Your responses will help inform potential changes to how parking is managed in Downtown Golden to best support the downtown business community while balancing the parking needs of residents and patrons.

Your responses will be shared with Planning staff and consultants responsible for evaluating and recommending changes to how parking is managed.
