Second open house and more opportunities for feedback
A second open house was hosted Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. and four alternatives for the interchange were presented. Participants were given an opportunity to ask questions and provide input.
If you missed the meeting you can watch it at GCO.tv as well as on YouTube.
Here's a timestamp of important discussion points for those who wish to go directly to a specific part of the meeting:
0:00 Intro and Project Background
0:08 July Open House Recap
0:19 Start of Polling Questions
0:26 Preliminary Traffic Alternatives
1:25 Landscape Alternatives
1:35 Next Steps
After watching the presentation of the alternatives, we encourage everyone to participate in the same survey that those who participated in the live meeting took. The survey questions will be open until March 10.
It is time for the community to speak up as we begin the design of the Heritage Road and US 6 interchange.
Golden, in partnership with Jefferson County and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), is working with Muller Engineering as the lead consultant for the design of the US 6 and Heritage Rd interchange.
A virtual community meeting was held on July 29 to kick off the planning process. You can watch a video of the meeting to the right on this page, as well as see reports of community feedback received.
The first meeting focused completely on what are the outcomes the community expects from the project. We weren't looking for design ideas, but what are the values and goals that we hope to meet? This included big things such as pedestrian safety and comfort, as well as smaller things such as hearing birds in the area.
The second meeting will focus on refining the design options that were built with the feedback that came out of the initial planning phase.

Before the design of the US 6 and Heritage Interchange begin, we want to understand what issues we need to address, what success will look like when the project is over, and what opportunities we should prioritize. Please take a moment to answer a few questions and point us in the right direction.

US6 & Heritage Road Interchange Design Kick-off Town Hall Results
The City of Golden held a virtual town hall to kick-off the design process for the US 6 & Heritage Road interchange on Wednesday, July 29.
The meeting included a presentation including background on the interchange and US 6 Corridor and information about the scope and timing of the design process. During the meeting, participants used interactive tools to provide staff and the design team with input on the community’s desired outcomes from a new interchange and how the project can best meet Golden’s values and goals. You can see the results of that input in the two documents below. If you were unable to attend the meeting, we have recreated the feedback tools right here on Guiding Golden - please take a moment to go through the survey and give us your ideas on the tools below left!
The design team will use information gathered from the community in this meeting and from Guiding Golden to start the design process and develop interchange alternatives for further community input.
