Heart of Golden 2020: Refining

Heart of Golden 2020 logo - Creating a lasting legacy in our city

Phase One: Visioning for Heart of Golden 2020 is successfully completed, and we are excited to move into the next phase of the process: Refining.

We received over 4000 ideas from the community and a ton of feedback both online and in person, and used all of it to come up with preliminary draft ideas for how the Clear Creek Corridor might be redeveloped. Please take the surveys below to compare and contrast the key features of the options, and let's start refining the concepts.

Golden, you gave us great ideas for the Clear Creek Corridor that have brought us to this point. We encourage you to continue participating in this project all the way to the end. This is YOUR legacy project, and your engagement is key to its success!

Participate in the Refining Phase

The designs are meant to help visualize what different options would look like. We want to hear your feedback on what key features you like and would put in your ultimate design of the corridor. We recommend participating in the following order:

  1. Watch the video or view the PowerPoint of the presentation from March 11, the presentation will answer many of your questions and help focus your feedback moving forward. There are also images of the designs in the document library. There are: Existing conditions, Civic Campus and Cultural Core, Eastern Intensity and Central Parks, and Civic Anchors and Distinct Destinations.
  2. Look at the Design Options and let us know what features in each design you love, like, and/or dislike.
  3. Take the Concept Inspiration Survey to tell us what images inspire you for this project.
  4. Take the Evaluation Criteria Survey to tell us how the key features fit within your idea of the corridor.

Heart of Golden 2020 Refining Workshops

Background

The City of Golden purchased 7.27 acres of land east of Ford Street along the Clear Creek Corridor which now gives the Golden community the opportunity to address several longstanding community goals:

  • Through the Visioning Phase's evaluation of community priorities, three priorities emerged as being the most important for the Clear Creek Corridor: open space, civic needs, and flexible uses.

Three design options for the Clear Creek Corridor are being presented in the Refining Stage. In order to understand how the features of each of these options meet the community's priorities for this project, the features included in each option have been divided into blocks. For each of these blocks, please state how well those features relate to the needs for open space, civic needs, and flexible use.
