City Budget Citizen Input
Consultation has concluded
The City of Golden is currently looking at where and how we should spend money in 2019-2020. Of course, a good portion of the budget will always need to be used to make sure our existing infrastructure is maintained. That means things like water, street repair, snow plowing and park maintenance. But we want to look beyond that to see how we can make Golden the best place it can possibly be for our residents.
Thus, as part of this year’s budget process, we want to hear from you. Where do you think investments in the community should be made? If we had money for some fun projects, what would you like to see? Your input will be taken into consideration by the City Council as the budget process continues. From now until April 27, you can give us your ideas. Please visit www.cityofgolden.net/budget to find more information about the City’s budget process or submit your budget ideas below.

Outdoor Space Planning
People like to sit where there are places to sit and we are not that picky about where that is, as long as we can sit somewhere. Certain types of seating could bring the Golden community closer. Seating that is accessible, comfortable, well-maintained, and located in the right places like along Clear Creek, in back of the Astor House, Golden Library lawn or on the patio of The History Museum to name a few locations - could be designed for people to have a meal and share conversation after purchasing food in town or bringing their own fare. Community tables and seating instead of benches.

Recycle, Compost, Trash
Golden has such a great alliance with Alpine recycling yet its presence seems to be lacking in our public spaces. During the summer months, the trash piles up along the river, most of which could be recycled or composted. It would be wonderful to see more recycle and compost bins around the city, especially by the river and along the main street! Creating an alliance with Terracycle to recycle unusual items like toothbrushes and cigarette buts could also be helpful! : )

Natural Play Space
In congruence with the outdoor-loving community of Golden, it would be fantastic to have a children's playground that encouraged children to engage with the environment instead of a pre-fabricated jungle gym. Open Space
Golden loves the outdoors. Preserving more area around Golden would give residents the opportunity to explore and take pride in the surrounding natural​ beauty. Many areas are in danger of being developed and it would be wonderful to see more land preserved for recreational activities as well as wildlife habitat areas.
